Socialising with other families can get trickier when the size of the families increases. We recently hosted a party photo shoot for a group of friends and their families who all had new babies, and that day we had seven families there, with over a dozen children.  Not the number of people you can easily fit into most houses.  However, by booking a large village hall we had space for the children to run around inside and play together. The event itself was enjoyed by all, and afterwards everyone received a selection of photos they were thrilled with.

One family have a lovely little boy who tends to be quite shy.  When they arrived he was feeling overwhelmed with the new environment and wasn’t in the mood for photos.  The flexibility of the event allowed time for the parents to relax with a cup of tea, and gave him time to settle and play with his friends. Once he had relaxed, we could easily get him giggling and enjoying himself during his family’s photo shoot. We ended up with some fabulous photos of him, which now are displayed on canvases in their house.  With that extra time for him to relax, it made it easier to reflect the joyful side of his nature.

Although the purpose of the event was to get photos of all the families with their new additions, the event was a great way for the families to spend the afternoon together having fun.

So what was the key to a good (photo) party?  Lots of tea and cake, time to chat and play, and lots of friends together.

What makes a good (photo) party?
