I recently ran a free photo shoot at a large Toddler group in the centre of Oxford on Monday.  The group is called “Toddle In”, and there are sometimes up to 40 families in the group, and with more than one child per family often it means there can be about 100 people in the room.  Despite the large size of the group I still managed to photograph everyone who wanted a photo shoot, and I have had some lovely feedback from people, such as:

“The photos are beautiful. Can’t wait to show my husband. He’ll want one of each!”

The children seemed to enjoy the photo shoot, and I had a few children trying to photobomb other photo sessions, as they enjoyed theirs so much.

My slightly unusual challenge at this photo shoot was that my daughter was also at the toddler group, along with my husband, who was looking after her.  She is only 18 months old, but already is a real poser, and was delighted when she could sit on one of the stools in the studio to help me with testing the lighting settings.  I have got a lovely photo of her grinning at me, but she did struggle more when it was other people’s turn for photos, despite the hoards of toys and snack available to her elsewhere.  I’m very pleased to have a career I can work around my children, but it is still not a career I can do while looking after my children.
